The University of Sydney joins the Hult Prize — the world’s largest student network for social entrepreneurship

INCUBATE are excited to announce their involvement on behalf of The University of Sydney as a participating university in The Hult Prize for 2024.

Since 2010, The Hult Prize has been supporting young people to solve the most pressing issues through social entrepreneurship. The year-long global competition challenges young people to solve the world’s most pressing issues by creating innovative social ventures. Over 20,000 annual applicants compete for the opportunity to be awarded $1 million, granted to the business with the greatest potential for impactful social change.

In this year’s Hult Prize UNLIMITED Challenge, University of Sydney current students and alumni will have the opportunity to pitch their startup for-profit business ideas to go in the running to pitch on a global stage and win the prize money. Pitches must align with at least one of the United Nations 16 Sustainable Development Goals.

As The University of Sydney’s Flagship Startup Program, empowering founders to create and grow innovative businesses is at the heart of INCUBATE’s mission. This partnership sees INCUBATE support our startup community to amplify their global impact through sharing their ambitious startup business ideas. This exciting opportunity provides the INCUBATE community with the chance to join a global network of student entrepreneurs looking to solve real world problems through social entrepreneurship.

How does it work?

Step 1: Qualifiers — February 2024

Submit your Online Application Form by 29th February outlining your startup idea and team details.

Step 2: Semi-Final Summit — June 2024

You’ll hear back from the Hult Prize team by April to find out whether you’ve qualified for the Summits held across the world:
June 7th — June 8th: Mumbai, Nairobi, São Paulo
June 14th — June 15th: Boston, Monterrey
June 21st — June 22nd: Bangkok, Dubai, Lisbon.
These dates are slightly subject to change.
The winning teams from each of these summits, and eight other startups selected through the 2nd Chance Round, will earn a spot at the first phase of the Global Accelerator.

Step 3: Global Accelerator — July to September 2024

12 semi-finalist teams will work alongside Hult Prize mentors to refine pitches and develop their businesses. You’ll travel to London for an intensive two weeks with experts and coaches before the final six teams are chosen to progress.

Step 4: Global Finals — September 2024

These six teams will pitch their social ventures to a panel of distinguished judges with the hopes of being selected as the next winner of the US $1,000,000 Hult Prize. Check out their website here for more information.
